Seagate Innov8 USB drive packs 8TB of storage, no bulky wall wart

Seagate recently announced the “world’s first” USB-powered desktop drive that packs an incredible 8TB of storage. It sounds like the perfect accessory for video editors on-the-go, or anyone else who needs to carry massive amounts of data around. Plus, since it’s USB-powered, you won’t need to carry around a separate bulky plug to power the drive.

It’s called the Seagate Innov8 and features USB 3.1 support for fast data speeds, which you’ll need if you’re going to be moving 8TB of storage to and from the gadget. The drive features an aluminum enclosure and works both in horizontal and vertical placements. Users will be able to manage storage using Seagate’s included Dashboard software, which can be used for one-click backups. As if 8TB isn’t enough storage, buyers will also be treated to an additional 200GB of Microsoft OneDrive storage.

Pricing isn’t as bad as you’d think, either. You can grab the Innov8 later this month for just $349 from either Amazon, direct from Seagate.com and other retailers.
