Final Fantasy XV‘s eventual PC release might be one of the worst kept secrets in gaming at this point. Thanks to GameStop’s accidental ad leak, one more brick has just been mortared down into the wall of inevitability.
One NeoGAFer snapped a screenshot of GameStop’s homepage where the ad appeared. If you look in the bottom right corner, you’ll see the PC logo alongside the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The going logic is that Square Enix either handed GameStop the wrong marketing materials or intended to announce a PC release date yesterday, decided not to and never updated their ad buys.
Either way, here it is.
Square Enix has recently embraced the PC platform as a place to launch the Final Fantasy series. If I’m not mistaken, a huge chunk of the franchise has made its way to Steam over the last few years. The publisher and games maker knows the platform is not only viable, but profitable.
They’ll release Final Fantasy XV on the PC. This is a rumor for now, but one has to assume the company knows the legitimacy of the PC platform and refuses to leave money on the table, especially since the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 feature PC-like architecture making the port work much easier.
