As someone who almost exclusively works in the field of games and game consoles, I haven’t heard much chatter about the publishing and development world as it relates to the latest iteration of the Apple TV. Disney released Disney Infinity on the platform, and I’m sure it enjoyed some measure of success given the quality of the title and the Apple customer base.
It looks like whatever success Disney had on Apple TV, though, wasn’t enough. Disney’s announced that it’ll no longer support the Apple TV version of Disney Infinity.
The word comes from the game’s forums.
[We’re] currently focusing on the traditional gaming platforms. We are always evaluating and making changes, but there are currently no plans for further updates to the Apple TV version of the game.
The new Battlegrounds content is being skipped for the Apple TV version of Disney Infinity because that mode relies on three and four player action, and that’s something you can’t do with Apple TV.
What does this mean for players who invested all sorts of money in the Apple TV version? Disney doesn’t have a response for that. You can imagine, though, that the forums sourced below are rife with frustrated customers.
