Titanfall 2’s team nearly 30% bigger than original, and they’re recruiting more for a completely new game

With the push to bring Titanfall‘s sequel to more than just the Xbox One and PC, Respawn Entertainment has grown the size of its development team. The once 70-person studio has increased by almost 30 percent to 90 people, and they plan to double that count as they start work on an entirely separate game.

The news of their expansion comes from an interview with Develop. HR and Recruiting Manager Kristin Christopher explained that the studio’s growth is happening because they’re splitting into two teams.

“Respawn is growing from a one game, one team studio to a two game, two team studio…

…A while back we hired Stig Asmussen – formerly with Sony, where he was director on God of War 3 – to direct a new game for us.

The team is currently small, but as they prepare to go full-force into development there will be many more positions that open up. I could see us hiring up to 70 more people to support that game, not counting other roles in the studio. It is a really exciting time.”

Titanfall 2 currently has no release date. We only know that it’s coming. Some leaks have pointed to this year, but it might be more prudent to assume EA will publish this next game in 2017. We’ll have more on it and whatever the completely new title from Respawn is as it comes.
