This week’s PlayStation Sale is the only one daring enough to answer the eternal question, “Do you think love can bloom, even on a battlefield?”
Konami’s Metal Gear Solid franchise is available for a heavily discounted price throughout the entire week on the PlayStation Store. There really isn’t a bad game in the lot, either. The 1998 PlayStation classic is just as amazing today as it was 20 years ago, and combined with its VR Missions expansion for a total of $6, you’re getting yourself an awful lot of game.
Following these, the HD versions of Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 also come highly recommended, especially Metal Gear Solid 3 since it comes with the only officially translated versions of the original MSX games. I’ll let you decide if you want them for the PS Vita or PlayStation 3.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots might be the weakest of the main storyline, but even Metal Gear Solid at its worst is better than two-thirds of the world’s video games. And of course, Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain shine as two of the brightest stars of this console generation. No better time to pick them up than now.
Don’t dismiss the portable games, either. Portable Ops might not be up to snuff with the rest of the franchise, but only a fool would overlook Peace Walker, which is far better than a handheld Metal Gear Solid has any right to be. It also plays very well on a Vita.
Again, you won’t find any bad games here. Now’s your chance to catch up if you’re a relative newcomer to the legendary series. You could very well fall in love on this battlefield, but not exactly with a human.
