That’s two for two. Yesterday evening, the original “Nintendo NX controller leaker” stepped up with a video and proved that the blurry white pictures were entirely fake and photoshopped. That in itself sort of made the second “leak” impossible, too.
Today, Frank Sandqvist has created a video that shows exactly how the second “leak” was made. Inspired by the first, Sandqvist and his brother used their company’s 3D printer to make the second.
I hope these two fake leaks go down as the best in gaming history. I really do. The level of effort that went into the photoshop was just fine. This 3D-printed hoax? Glorious.
Sandqvist does seem a little remiss about messing with people, but it was clearly done in fun. I’ve had fun covering this set of rumors, too. The first one felt so incredibly fake. The second? The quality of the build actually had me thinking, “gosh, maybe?”
Kudos to both fakers. Don’t take these things too seriously, folks. It’s just gaming. As much as I love it, at the end of the day, we’re playing games.
