Apple Music for Android gets a new feature that iPhone owners don’t have

The last time we checked, Apple Music on Android still felt like a work in progress. That said, Apple just rolled out a pretty big update for the app, adding a new feature that the iOS version can’t match: a widget.

The Apple Music widget is pretty standard. You can pin it to your home screen or a secondary page, and use it to quickly check what song is playing and control the music. There’s a play/pause button, options to skip forward or backwards, and a heart icon you can tap if you like the music currently playing.

The update also offers iTunes Gift Card support through the settings menu, which you can use to pay your monthly membership fee. Other improvements include the option to see what’s playing on Beats 1 without actually tuning in, and the option to tap on the name of whatever song is currently playing to see that full album. Finally, Apple Music will show you which songs are the most popular on any specific album.

The update is available now on Google Play via the source link below. If you haven’t tried Apple Music yet, you can also sign up to take advantage of the company’s free three-month trial.
