9-7 iPad Pro vs Surface Pro 4

Apple is making a big play for Microsoft customers with its latest tablet, which the company announced on Monday at an event in California. If you’re considering ditching your old PC for the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro you may want to take a closer look at how the device compares to the Surface Pro 4, Microsoft’s latest tablet-laptop hybrid.

As its name implies, the new iPad Pro packs a 9.7-inch screen with a Retina HD display (2048 x 1536 pixels). The Surface Pro 4 puts that to shame with a 12.3-inch display and a 2736 x 1824-pixel resolution. Of course, that mean’s Apple’s tablet is a lot lighter at just 437 grams, compared to the Surface Pro 4 (either 766 or 786 grams depending on the processor).

The 9.7-inch iPad Pro offers a 12-megapixel rear camera with a 5-megapixel shooter up front. The Surface Pro 4 isn’t as impressive with an 8-megapixel primary camera, though its front-facing shooter does offer face recognition thanks to Windows Hello.

There’s a lot more to consider, and you can check out the full spec-by-spec breakdown in the gallery below. Of course, you’re also choosing between Windows and iOS, so choose carefully before locking yourself into either ecosystem.
