PlayStation VR pre-orders going up next Tuesday morning, bundles priced

PlayStation 4 owners (and future owners, for that matter) will be able to pre-order PlayStation VR at their retailer of choice next week. Sony announced by way of the PlayStation Blog that pre-orders will go live next Tuesday, March 22, at 7 a.m. PT.

Gamers will be able to pre-order PlayStation VR in only one form. The core bundle, which is not up for pre-order, will sell for $399.99, and it has most of what you need to get started, though it’s missing the PlayStation Camera. You’ll want one of those. Here’s what’s in the core bundle.

  • PS VR headset
  • PS VR cables
  • Stereo Headphones
  • PlayStation VR Demo Disc

PlayStation VR will also work with Move controllers. Sony’s bundling those and a camera in a bigger bundle. That’s being called the PlayStation VR Launch Bundle. It’s the only bundle being offered to pre-orders, and it will be sold in limited quantity. It’s selling for $499.99 and here’s exactly what it offers:

  • All contents of the PS VR core bundle:
    • PS VR headset
    • PS VR cables
    • Stereo Headphones
    • PlayStation VR Demo Disc
  • PlayStation Camera
  • 2 PlayStation Move motion controllers
  • PlayStation VR Worlds (disc)

I’ll likely be snagging the Launch Bundle. I already have a camera, but the Move controllers and game make up the $100 for me. Not being able to pre-order the core bundle is, well, odd.

Will you be buying PlayStation VR?
