This morning, the PlayStation Blog announced the pre-order date for PlayStation VR. Next Tuesday, you’ll be able to pre-order a launch bundle including the VR headset, headphones, a game, demo disc, two Move controllers and a PlayStation Camera for $499.99.
That’s a bargain, for sure, but a lot of gamers might already have a Camera and Move controllers, especially the early-adopters who tend to buy all things PlayStation.
Sony will also sell a core bundle version for $399.99 that only includes the headset, headphones, cables and demo disc. This one is for gamers who already own a PlayStation Camera and Move controllers, right? The bogus news? It won’t be up for pre-order.
Here’s the precise wording from the PlayStation Blog, bold emphasis my own.
The core PS VR bundle, which has a suggested retail price of $399.99 USD / $549.99 CAD, is not available for pre-order.
That’s where the verbiage stops, too. It’s entirely possible that this core version will eventually be up for pre-order, but it won’t be next week.
So, what’s an early-adopter to do? The safest bet is to pre-order the more expensive bundle next week to reserve your spot, then wait until the core bundle goes up for order and cancel the launch bundle.
What are you going to do here?
