Windows 10 Mobile now available for Windows Phone 8.1 devices

Microsoft officially started rolling out the Windows 10 Mobile update to older WIndwos Phone 8.1 devices. It’s a bit late, but better late than never, right?

Microsoft didn’t seem all too excited about the update in its blog post announcing the rollout, instead just reiterating that it’s “focused on delivering a high quality experience for our customers.” My guess? It just wants to get this update out the door and move on, leaving those old phones in the dust.

Also, keep in mind that this isn’t hitting every single Windows Phone 8.1 device, but rather a “limited set.” Folks who have been testing the Windows 10 Mobile Insider program also aren’t getting the full upgrade just yet, which is kind of a bummer.

If you own a Lumia 930, Lumia 830, Lumia 735, Lumia 640 XL, Lumia 640, Lumia 635, Lumia 540, Lumia 535, Lumia 532, Lumia 435 or a Lumia 430, you should check for the update now. You’ll get some new experiences, like a revamped home screen and store, but you won’t get more advanced options like Continuum. Don’t worry, it doesn’t work that well anyway.
