Sonic the Hedgehog runs his little legs to your Apple TV

Sonic the Hedgehog is now available for the Apple TV. There are actually three titles that will be available for play through Apple’s set-top box, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves, OK? Gotta spread out the good stuff sometimes. There’s just one you can enjoy right now, and that’s Sonic the Hedgehog 1.

However, you’ll soon be able to enjoy two additional titles, including Sonic the Hedgehog 2 starting on March 24, and then Sonic CD on March 31. That’s three Sonic games in one month, which makes March a pretty damn good month in my book.

As Engadget notes, there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason why all three titles aren’t launching at the same time, but my guess is that Sega wants folks to scoop up one at a time, spreading out those tiny purchases instead of dropping all three in our laps at the same time. Sega’s gotta make that mean green money, too, you know?

I returned my Apple TV because I wasn’t digging it, but maybe I’ll go grab one again because I dig Sonic. I don’t know. We’ll see. Look for the titles in the App Store now, then sit your tush on your nice couch and kick back with your favorite cartoon Hedgehog.
