After screen-testing seemingly every young actor in Hollywood, Disney has reportedly whittled down its search for the next Han Solo. According to the Hollywood Reporter, a handful of up-and-comers read for the role last week in London, suggesting Disney is close to picking a winner.

Disney apparently met with Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!), Jack Reynor (Transformers) and Taron Egerton (The Kingsman); Justin Kroll from Variety also claims Blake Jenner and Jack O’Connell are among those being considered, bringing the shortlist to five. Last we heard, over 2,500 actors were competing for the role of young Han Solo, including Dave Franco, Miles Teller, and Ansel Elgort.

Whoever becomes Han Solo would be getting the role of a lifetime, especially considering they’re taking over the mantle from Harrison Ford, who is a Hollywood legend. As part of its Star Wars spinoffs, Disney has plans to make a standalone Han Solo film, which will give us insight into the character before he got swept up in saving the galaxy; it’ll also tell us how he met Chewie.

With the list now down to just a handful of actors, Disney will likely make a formal announcement soon. You can look for untitled Han Solo spinoff movie to hit theaters in 2018.
