Check out some early concept art for Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Star Wars: The Force Awakens came out all the way back in December but it still continues to amaze. Ahead of the movie’s home release, Industrial Light & Magic has released a huge gallery of art that shows how concepts get turned into reality.

It’s pretty incredible how filmmakers are able to conceptualize how they want their film to look, and then turn their imagination into reality. From that epic chase scene on Jakku, to Kylo Ren walking down a corridor of Starkiller Base, it’s awesome to see how it all comes together.

“Each artist began to explore his individual response, and collectively, we began to answer, with our words and art,” said Rick Carter, co-production designer, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. “Out of our brainstorming sessions emerged visual imagery of where we might want to go and what it would look like when we got there. We were not merely illustrating scenes that already existed: we were initiating storytelling concepts through the visual images themselves.”

Not everything that was drawn up made it to the final film and that’s what makes the images so fun to look at. If you kept up with early Star Wars rumors, you might have even seen some of these concept images months and months ago. Check out some of the art above and don’t forget to visit the source link for even more Star Wars images.
