HTC has begun rolling out its Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for the Desire EYE. The release includes its latest Sense 7 user interface and a whole bunch of new features, but users in the U.S. will have to wait a few weeks for it.
The Desire EYE won’t be two years old until the fall, but many featured it wouldn’t be on HTC’s list for Marshmallow upgrades. But the Taiwanese company has delivered, giving Desire EYE owners the latest Android has to offer.
The update is currently rolling out in the United Arab Emirates and a number of markets throughout Europe, but according to PhoneArena, Desire EYE owners on AT&T in the U.S. will get it “later this month.”
This update includes Android 6.0.1’s new emoji, plus Marshmallow features like Doze, Google Now on Tap, and the new app permissions system. It also brings Sense 7, which is pre-installed on more recent HTC devices, and brings nice improvements over Sense 6.
“The update comes in two parts weighing in at a total of 1.6GB,” adds PhoneArena. “The first update prepares the phone for Marshmallow, while the second one contains the actual Android 6.0.1 files.”
You will need at least 50 percent battery life to install Marshmallow on your Desire EYE.
