The Legend of Heroes continues to find its footing in the Western world thanks to the tireless efforts of XSEED, and two more games have been confirmed for a release in the coming year.
First up is the sequel to last year’s The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel, which quietly tiptoed into December as one of the best reviewed JRPGs of the year. The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 2 will be released for the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita in the fall of 2016. The previous game ends on a torturous cliffhanger, but luckily, fans won’t have to wait as long to see the resolution as they did for Trails in the Sky SC.
Following Trails of Cold Steel 2, XSEED has committed itself to the long-awaited release of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd, the final chapter of the fan favorite Trails in the Sky sub-trilogy. So far, it has only slated in a PC release, so there is no word if it plans to release the PSP version yet.
The Legend of Heroes has struck a chord with a lot of old-school JRPG fans, and its games are more accessible now than ever before thanks to Steam. They’re a bit on the slow side for my tastes, but they definitely have enough value to give a recommendation.
