Ubisoft is talking up the sales figures for Tom Clancy’s The Division, stating that the game now holds the record as the most successful launch in the company’s 30-year history. The game has been so successful that it also towers over the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC as each individual platform’s most successful Ubisoft title.
In fact, three of the top four “new game brands” of all time fall under Ubisoft’s umbrella with The Division joining Assassin’s Creed, Destiny, and Watch_Dogs.
“New game brands?” But, I thought The Division was a Tom Clancy game. That franchise has been around for 20 years now. Oh whatever… CEO Yves Guillemot chimed in to echo the sentiment.
“The launch of The Division is a tremendous achievement for Ubisoft, and demonstrates our unrivaled capacity to create fantastic new game brands and transform them into entertainment blockbusters. This is a momentous day for Ubisoft, but more importantly it marks the start of millions of players’ enduring engagement in The Division’s game world, which we are confident they will love.”
But… it’s a Tom Clancy game. Hello, is this thing on? Tactical shooting, espionage, you know. Tom Clancy stuff? It’s right on the cover of the box.
Tom Clancy’s The Division is available now on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
