Gears of War 4 developer The Coalition has confirmed the framerates that it will be aiming for with its upcoming sequel. And yes, that’s plural, since the game will run at two different rates depending on how you are playing it.
Speaking with Game Informer, Studio Boss Rod Fergusson confirmed that Gears of War 4’s single-player campaign will run at a solid 30fps, just like the first three Gears of War games. However, those looking for pristine headshots in competitive multiplayer will have a much easier time as the studio is aiming to have it run at 60 fps. Furgusson has spoken before on the multiplayer’s framerate, but this is the first we’ve heard about the single-player’s.
He also states that the Xbox One will have all of its power tapped to make the game run at 1080p. In regards to a PC version, which seems to be the eventual fate of all Xbox One exclusives these days, he would only state that it could “possibly” happen for Gears of War 4.
Judging by the mass exodus from the Xbox One to the PC, though, I would say its a safe bet this will happen. Gears of War 4 will be released for the Xbox One in 2016.
