Radical Entertainment was in the process of developing Rising Thunder, a fighting game on the PC that was slowly gathering a nice following in its alpha state. Now? Rising Thunder has been closed permanently as Radical Entertainment was acquired by Riot Games.

Yes, the very same Riot that’s making League of Legends.

The word from Radiant, though, is that this is a positive acquisition. They open their statement regarding the news with “We are delighted to announce that Radiant Entertainment has been acquired by Riot Games.” Delight wouldn’t exist without good news, right?

Radiant indicates concisely that Rising Thunder is done, and the team behind it is moving on to a new game. Here’s that bit:

As for Rising Thunder, the team will start work on a new game that we’re incredibly excited about. We wish we could say more now, but rest assured you’ll hear more when the time is right. For now, we will be permanently closing Rising Thunder on March 18th. Thanks to everyone who participated in the Alpha!

Does this mean Riot and Radiant will develop a fighter with LoL‘s model in mind? We’ll find out soon enough. Stay tuned.
