Rumors, reports, wires, carrier pigeons, cables and hand-written letters from Apple’s supply chain have all suggested that Apple is going to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack on the iPhone 7. Why? Because Apple still thinks phones need to be wafer-thin, I guess. That is and still remains a rumor, but now a new leaked case starts to suggest that it’s becoming more likely.
The photos of an alleged iPhone 7 leaked case, published by Nowhereelse.fr, look like any silicone case at first glance. Look a bit closer, however, and you’ll notice that there isn’t a cutout for the 3.5mm headphone jack. Gee golly, folks, it looks like Apple might actually move ahead with forcing folks to rely on Bluetooth or a Lightning port for their headphone-needs.
Nowhereelse said the source of these photos is “trustworthy” but, like all phone rumors, we still need to apply a healthy dose of caution while looking at these photos.
