Samsung Galaxy S7 vs. Galaxy S6 Edge Plus camera samples: Low-light camera samples from Hogwarts

I recently had the opportunity to check out The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood (thanks Gary!) and thought it would be a fun environment to check out the Samsung Galaxy S7’s camera.  After all, the Galaxy S7 is touted as one the most amazing low-light cameras out there, so what better place to test it than inside the dimly lit hallways of Hogwarts?

For reference, I took the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus to compare previous generation camera tech to Samsung’s newest. In the very least, you can check out how Samsung’s camera tech has evolved since last year. Samsung decided go with a f/1.7 aperture versus a f/1.9 found in the S6-line and went with larger sensor pixels instead of quantity of pixels. Notice how the f/1.7 aperture and larger camera sensor pixels allow more light into the photos with the new Galaxy S7.

Samsung Galaxy S7 REVIEW: Little refinements make a big difference

Samsung’s Galaxy S7 is an impressive phone from top to bottom, offering a premium design, improved software and a wonderful camera.

I shot these photos in the very same way I usually take photos, using the auto feature, with HDR settings on auto and flash turned off. As far as the environment, you can see that The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is fairly dark, and it only gets darker as you enter Hogwarts, aka “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.”

It was a pretty great environment to test out the low-light abilities of the Galaxy S7. Some of the photos definitely are noisy, which is common in poorly lit areas, but I still prefer a noisy photo than no photo at all.

Check out how the two phones stack up in the galleries below. You may want to ‘expand’ button on the gallery to get a closer look. What do you think of the Galaxy S7’s camera?
