The thing I like about Square Cash is that your money is sent directly from your bank to the recipient, and vice versa, rather than being in a virtual account. Starting today, however, a new update makes the service more like Venmo.
With Square Cash’s “Cash Drawer” feature, users can keep a balance that can be used to pay friends and family, rather than money being taken directly from your bank account. The new feature has to be turned on, so if that’s a method you prefer, you can enable it by going to your settings.
However, if that’s not something you prefer, you can continue to use Square Cash exactly how it’s always been. Personally, I enjoy using the app because it’s not a go-between like PayPal or Venmo or any of the other competing payment services out there.
The update, which also introduces various bug fixes and a redesigned activity pane, should be available for Android and iOS now.
