Meizu and Canonical recently announced the PRO 5, introduced earlier this month, is now available for pre-order. The Meizu PRO 5 Ubuntu Edition can be pre-ordered through Meizu’s website where you’ll receive a link to order the phone direct from Chinese partner JD.com when it’s available.
The standard Meizu PRO 5 features mTouch 2.1 – the name for its fingerprint reading technology – a Sony IMX 230 21.16MP camera with phase and laser-focusing, a Samsung Exynos 7420 processor, support for two nano SIM cards, mCharge 2.0 quick charging, a large 3,050mAh battery, a 1080p display, USB-C and more. Presumably, all of that hardware has made it over to the Ubuntu Edition of the phone as well, though full details on the device are still relatively slim on the Canonical website.
We signed up for the pre-order and received an email that the phone should be available to buy direct from JD.com sometime in “mid March.” We’ll let you know when it’s officially available, but be sure to hit the source to reserve yours now.
