The new DOOM will rock in 1080p at 60fps on both PS4 and Xbox One

To hell with framerates and resolutions! Literally! I really need to dust off my DOOM puns, folks. I feel this effort was middling at best.

The upcoming DOOM from Bethesda will feature a wonderful 1080p resolution running at 60fps on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Of course, it goes without saying that DOOM will hit those same specs on the PC platform as well. Was that ever in doubt?

The word comes from Bethesda’s official site. DOOM will make use of idTech 6 in order to look wonderful. Lead Project Programmer Billy Khan was quoted in the post.

“We want players to wonder how DOOM and idTech 6 games can be so visually stunning at 60 frames-per-second at 1080p on all platforms, when other titles cannot even achieve a similar look at 30 frames-per-second…

…Our goal is to be the best-looking game at 1080p at 60fps.”

As long as my games look great, I don’t normally care about framerates. Without huge dips, I’m cool with whatever. However, when possible, I definitely want the best. Reading that DOOM will offer that best on all platforms is tremendous.
