Samsung’s new Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge have the best smartphone displays ever tested by the experts at DisplayMate. The new handsets steal that title from the Galaxy Note 5, thanks to their greater pixel density and increased brightness.
Samsung’s Super AMOLED displays often win the approval of DisplayMate, and it doesn’t look like that’s going to change anytime soon, with each Galaxy introducing a new screen that’s even better than the one that came before it.
Despite offering the same resolution as the Galaxy Note 5, the smaller displays on the 5.1-inch Galaxy S7 and 5.5-inch Galaxy S7 edge mean they have greater pixel densities for sharper images and text. They’re also 24 percent brighter than the displays built into the Galaxy S6 series.
DisplayMate adds that the new handsets are also better at handling auto brightness, more power efficient, and they tie the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 for the most color-accurate displays DisplayMate has measured on a smartphone or tablet.
All of this combines to provide “a number of new records for Smartphone display performance, and delivering absolutely stunning and beautiful images,” writes DisplayMate president Dr. Raymond Soneira. “The Galaxy S7 becomes the Best Performing Smartphone Display that we have ever tested.”
