Captain America: Civil War—Crossbones does not look friendly in new image

Frank Grillo’s Crossbones had the tiniest cameo in the first trailer for Captain America: Civil War, and now an official photo of the villain has been released. The character adopts a more threatening look following the climax of Captain America: Civil War, which found him at the bottom of a rubble pile as S.H.I.E.L.D. was being ripped to shreds.

Following S.H.I.E.L.D.’s demise, he’s one of the last incarnations of the ugly organization known as HYDRA. We don’t really know how big of a role he’ll have in Civil War, but judging from set photos we saw last year, we should see him duke it out with Captain America at least once.

In addition to the Crossbones image, Empire also released a picture of Scarlet Witch, who will be on the side of Captain America when the Avengers face off; other members of Cap’s team include Falcon, Winter Soldier, Ant-Man and Hawkeye. Speaking of Cap, an image of him and Iron Man was also released as part of Empire’s coverage, and it doesn’t look like a happy reunion.

Captain America: Civil War will hit theaters on May 6, 2016.
