Apple hires PR veteran for content initiatives

Amid reports suggesting the company is looking to create its own original content, Apple has reportedly hired Bernadette Simpao, a veteran in cable TV public relations. Variety reports Simpao will handle “PR efforts for content and apps related to Apple TV, as well as for iTunes TV and movies, apps, books and podcasts.”

While there’s no mention of Apple creating original content, there’s been a chorus of reports suggesting the company’s first show could be about Dr. Dre’s life, starring Dr. Dre. If true, Simpao will certainly have her work cut out for her, especially if the show is as graphic and violent as reports suggest.

Simpao previously worked at AMC and Viacom, the latter of which she worked over 10 years. At AMC, Simpao was the VP of corporate communications. Neither Apple or Simpao commented on the rumor.
