I’m a bit of a jaded, cynical jerk when it comes to shooters these days, especially of both the military variety and those that come from Ubisoft. Maybe it’s just fond memories of Sands of Time or Beyond Good & Evil, but at one point, Ubisoft seemed as if it was poised to succeed without caving into trends.
Oh well, that was over a decade ago, and nowadays, we have the ambitious Tom Clancy’s: The Division to take us into the horrors of urban warfare. Honestly, I am very interested in checking the game out, especially to see if the whole scope of Ubisoft’s vision pans out. Cover-based, iron-sights shooting and squad tactics in an MMO setting was the dream ever since I first played Rainbow Six :Vegas, but that was back when the AAA market was still fresh and reliable.
Tom Clancy’s: The Division looks like a game that’s been a decade in the making, the peak of all trends from the previous console generation meshing into one excellent open-world shooter. Afterwards, we’ll never need another multiplayer shooter again!
We did it, developers! You can graduate to making League of Legends and Minecraft spin-offs next!
Jump into Tom Clancy’s The Division open beta from February 19-21 on PS4, PC and Xbox One. Also, Xbox One players can get started a day early with exclusive 24-hour early access beginning on February 18. Players on all platforms can preload the beta starting February 16.
Tom Clancy’s: The Division will be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on March 8. At least nobody talks in this new trailer.
