Producer Roy Lee wants to make a Nintendo flick like The LEGO Movie

I really dig The LEGO Movie. I liked it when I watched it the first time through, but my four-year-old son had the thing on repeat for weeks in our house. I even liked it then, oddly enough. That, to me, is the sign of a great flick.

What if Hollywood and Nintendo stepped up to make a film like The LEGO Movie except starring the likes of Mario, Luigi, Link, Zelda, Donkey Kong and more? Now that would be awesome. Awesome for fans, Nintendo and the world in general.

The LEGO Movie Producer Roy Lee spoke about such a project at yesterday’s 2016 DICE Summit, calling it his holy grail.

“Zelda, Mario, the whole universe of characters, I feel like could be perfect for a Lego Movie-type movie…I don’t have the rights to it, I would love to–that’s my holy grail.”

The LEGO Movie pushed my family to buy more LEGO. I bet The Nintendo Movie would do the same. As if we need more of either…

Nintendo should do this. Really.
