Chevrolet said Wednesday that it’s going to offer the Camaro 1LE performance package on V6 and V8 coupes. It’s the first time Chevy will offer the performance package for one of its V6 coupes. The Camaro 1LE performance package will be available for the Camaro 1LT and Camaro 2LT, which pack V6 engines, in addition to the V8-powered Camaro 1SS.
The V-6 performance package includes Goodyear Eagle F1 tires, the Camaro SS fuel system, 20-inch forged aluminum wheels, Brembo brakes, more aggressive suspension tuning, Recaro seats and an optional data recording system, among other treats.
The V8 package includes magnetic ride control, a suede steering wheel, a satin graphite front splitter and rear diffuser, a data recording system, FE4 suspension tuning and electronic limited slip differential, Chevy explained. Both the V6 and V7 Camaro 1LE performance packages will include a “satin black hood” and special wheels.
“The Camaro 1LE packages follow a recipe any track-day enthusiast will appreciate,” said Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer. “Start with a lightweight, stiff structure and then add higher levels of suspension stiffness and damping, more aggressive tires, higher downforce, more powerful brakes and more cooling.”
Chevy said the Camaro 1LE packages will be available later this year for its 2017 Camaro SS and LT V-6 coupes.
