Bethesda and id Software have announced the release date of DOOM, complete with a vicious campaign trailer. DOOM will release on May 13, 2016. Yes. That’s a Friday. DOOM is releasing on Friday the 13th in May.
The game will feature a collector’s edition that was detailed by today’s press release.
The limited DOOM collector’s edition, created in conjunction with TriForce, includes an exclusive, fully-realized 12” tall collector’s statue of one of the game’s most iconic demons: the Revenant. Modeled from actual in-game 3D files and striking in appearance, the demonic Revenant stands on an LED-lit base with internal, slow-spinning turbine from the UAC facility on Mars. The DOOM collector’s edition also includes a copy of the game packaged in an exclusive, battle-worthy metal case.
The DOOM collector’s edition is available for pre-order through participating retailers and is priced at $119.99 (US), €129.99 (Europe), and £99.99 (UK).
What’s in DOOM‘s campaign? I don’t know? Murder? Mayhem? Punching eyeballs? Sure, all of that. I can’t tell you what this one is about beyond fighting demons on Mars, but does that really matter?
The game looks gorgeous in motion in this brand new trailer. Be sure to turn the settings all the way up before you watch it. Oh, and take care not to view it around folks who might take offense with all of the ridiculous gore. This is DOOM, afterall.
This relaunch could be massive, folks. Wolfenstein‘s most recent full game was tremendous, and I hope I’ll be saying the same thing about DOOM this time next year.
We’ll have more on DOOM as it comes.
