Samsung’s invite for Galaxy S7 event leaks out early (Update)

Galaxy-S7-invite

Samsung’s invitation to an Unpacked event on February 21 has leaked out early. Teasing “the next Galaxy,” it surfaces just a day after we caught an early glimpse at Samsung’s official press renders for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.

Just like those renders, the invite comes from reliable leaker Evan Blass, so we have good reason to assume it’s genuine. It also sports the same color scheme as the new wallpapers seen on the Galaxy S7 series, with dark blues and glowing highlights that shape the number 7.

The invite confirms Samsung will make the Galaxy S7 series official on the first day of this year’s Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona — as many rumors predicted. Samsung is then expected to launch the Galaxy S7 in Europe and the U.S. on March 11.

We know what the Galaxy S7 will look like now, but we’ll have to wait for Samsung’s unveiling to find out its specifications. According to the rumors, we can expect a Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, up to 64GB of storage, and a microSD card slot.

We can also look forward to a 5.1-inch Quad HD display on the Galaxy S7, a 5.5-inch Quad HD display on the Galaxy S7 edge (both pressure-sensitive), a new 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with larger f/1.7 aperture and BRITECELL technology, and stellar battery life.

Update: Samsung has confirmed it will hold its Galaxy S7 event on Feb. 21.
