If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on a new OnePlus X, we have some good news. The wait is over. OnePlus said Thursday that it’s now officially accepting all orders for the smartphone, invite or not.
“We’re extremely excited to be making the OnePlus X invite-free more quickly this time around,” OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei said. “With every device we release, we grow more mature and more adept at handling the demands and expectations of our community.”
Pei also reiterated how important the invite system has been for the company, “allowing [it] to scale up operations, while giving fans an engaging way to get involved with the product.”
No doubt, the buzz has helped the OnePlus marketing for new phones, though it has also damaged the reputation particularly when phones were so hard to come by that customers decided to look elsewhere.
OnePlus said it hopes to continue to cut down on the invite-only wait times with future handsets. To celebrate, it’s also offering OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X cases at a 20 percent discount.
