Square Enix summons a sale over on the PlayStation Store

Square Enix is throwing a sale over on the PlayStation Store, dropping the price on both Final Fantasy classics and its modern hits alike.

What are we going to cherry pick here? Final Fantasy X is my favorite deal of the bunch, a wonderful game everyone should play, but that’s only because I despise the PlayStation version of Final Fantasy VI. Those loading times…

All three PlayStation games have held up well over time, so Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, and Final Fantasy IX are all worth looking into. More importantly, though, Final Fantasy Tactics remains a timeless masterpiece no matter how you spin it and the king of that era. All four get a solid recommendation from me, even Final Fantasy VIII, which I can at least respect for its weirdness.

The Game Boy Advance versions of Final Fantasy IV and Final Fantasy V provide better experiences, so hold out for those if you can ignore that $5 price tag.

Looking outside Final Fantasy, Square Enix is really dropping the ball on Parasite Eve with this sale. Both of its awkward sequels, Parasite Eve II and The 3rd Birthday, have their prices slashed, but the excellent original is nowhere to be found. What gives?! I am a bigger fan of The 3rd Birthday than most. though, so I would say play it for yourself and see if its poor reception is deserved or not.

And Legend of Mana, Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, Front Mission 3, and Vagrant Story make-up the remaining handful of classics worthy of your time.

Oh… and Thief, Tomb Raider, Sleeping Dogs, Murdered: Soul Suspect… the face of the new Square Enix is also hanging around.
