The Revenant wins a quiet weekend at the box office

The box office was topsy turvy this weekend as winter storm Jonas shut down theaters on a large portion of the East coast.

1. The Revenant

Leonardo DiCaprio’s latest film took the top spot at the box office this weekend. It took in $16M this weekend bringing its domestic total to $119.19M off of a $135M budget.

2. Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Star Wars: The Force Awakens slipped some more in its sixth weekend of release.

As for the weekend, the film took in $14.25M domestically. It now stands at $879.2M domestic and $1.060B foreign for a global total of $1.939B.

3. Ride Along 2

The new Ice Cube and Kevin Hart comedy Ride Along 2 took a massive tumble in its second weekend, slipping 63.2 percent from its opening. It took in $12.96M and now stands at $59.1M off of its $40M budget.

4. Dirty Grandpa

The new Zac Efron and Robert De Niro comedy Dirty Grandpa opened in fourth place with $11.52M.

5. The Boy

Rounding out the top five was the opening weekend of The Boy that took in $11.52M off of a $10M budget.
