The Witness is up for pre-order, and here’s how much it costs

The Witness, the long-awaited puzzle game from Braid creator Jonathan Blow, is releasing in just a week, on January 26. Now we have a price to go with the date.

When The Witness hits, releasing on PC and PlayStation 4, it will cost $39.99.

The Witness contains hundreds of puzzles and takes, according to Blow, 70 or more hours to complete, and it runs at 1080p and 60fps on both PC and PlayStation 4. The game has been rated for Xbox One as well, though Blow has denied the possibility of an Xbox One release.

If you’re planning to play the game on PC, you can pre-order it now to get, says Blow, a “warm fuzzy feeling.” That, he says, is the only pre-order bonus.

That $40 price tag is going to leave a lot of gamers sucking air through their teeth, but the promised content should, if it lives up to the hype, more than make up for it.

The Witness releases on January 26, and will probably come with that warm fuzzy feeling even if you wait.
