Minecraft: Story Mode coming to Wii U this week

It took four years for Minecraft to make it onto Nintendo’s Wii U console, but luckily, Minecraft: Story Mode took less than one. Telltale has announced that the first episode, “Order of the Stone,” will be available on the eShop for $4.99 tomorrow, Jan. 21.

Following this release, the subsequent chapters will also trickle out “in the coming weeks” at $4.99 each. Fans will eventually have the option to buy the season pass for $19.99, but this will only include episodes 2 through 5. You’ll have to buy the first episode on its own.

This also marks the first time Telltale is bringing its games to a Nintendo platform.

“Working with Nintendo, we’re tremendously excited to be bringing our unique style of storytelling to Wii U for the first time, and we couldn’t be happier to be kicking things off with a series like Minecraft: Story Mode that allows players of all ages to craft their own adventure across the Minecraft universe.”

This version will take advantage of the Wii U’s unique dual-screen and touch screen functions.

Minecraft: Story Mode is a spin-off of Mojang’s PC hit, developed by The Walking Dead studio Telltale Games. It is also available for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PC, Android, iOS, Windows Phone, and PS Vita platforms.
