If you haven’t heard by now, a new 24 reboot is in, and Keifer Sutherland is out. The actor who owned top billing in the television series for nine seasons has been overlooked by Fox, which is looking to put a fresh face at center stage.
Sound familiar? A central actor iconic to his franchise being overstepped for someone who can bring in a new crowd? Well, it should, because it happened in video gaming just last year.
David Hayter, the longtime voice actor of Solid Snake and Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid, was unceremoniously overstepped for the role in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and who exactly did he lose the job to?
24‘s Keifer Sutherland.
While I can assure there is no malice here, Hayter replied to the 24 news in the best way that he could.

I can taste the salt from that Twitter post through my computer screen. He would go on to say that he wasn’t lying either, hinting that he really believes you can’t replace Jack Bauer in 24.
