I’m a big fan of the landscape homescreen option in Android but, until just this morning, I had to use third-party launchers to get it to work properly. As spotted by Droid-Life, however, the latest update brings landscape mode back to the homescreen.
I just checked my Nexus 6P, which must have auto-updated overnight, and the option is indeed there. Just hit the settings menu for the homescreen and reactivate the “allow rotation” option. I find it useful since I use a folio case where I often have the phone balanced in landscape mode for watching movies, and it’s also great for when I sync up a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse from time-to-time.
Just update to the latest Google app and make sure you’re using the Google Now launcher — or a pure version of Marshmallow — to get it working.
