Nexus 5X drops in price to $349

Since launching last October for $379, the Nexus 5X has fluctuated in price quite a bit, even going as low as $300 over the busy holiday period. While that price was temporary, Google on Tuesday announced a much more permanent price drop. Going forward, the base Nexus 5X will be just $349, a price that hovers in that coveted “impulse buy” territory.

Offering the Nexus 5X at $379 was already pretty reasonable, but we’re not going to argue with a $30 discount. Buyers can currently take advantage of the price drop through the Google Store, though we’ll probably see other retailers, such as Amazon, match the discounted price.

If I were in the market for a new Android device, I’d recommend the Nexus 6P, which comes in at a starting price of $499. However, the Nexus 5X, which sports a 5.2-inch Full HD display, Snapdragon 808 processor, and 12.3-megapixel camera, is a great alternative. It’s not the most powerful device out there, but for $349, it’s hard to beat.

Google doesn’t say whether or not the price drop is permanent, but it sounds to us like $349 will be the price for the foreseeable future.
