In the wake of yesterday’s pricing announcement for the Oculus Rift, one would think Sony would be ready to step up and talk about their upcoming PlayStation VR. Really, the company hasn’t said all that much, assuredly waiting until they have their own time in the spotlight to unveil a whole bunch of news.
Sony CEO Kaz Hirai did, however, answer some questions about PlayStation VR when asked by the BBC. He talked specifically about how many titles are being developed for PSVR.
“We have more than 200 developers signed up for the PlayStation VR program, who are working on probably about 100 or more titles that will play on PlayStation VR…”
Kaz was on hand for all of Sony at CES, not just the PlayStation stuff. It’s worth noting, though, that he was careful to say that the 100 or more titles will “play on PlayStation VR” and not that they will be exclusive to Sony’s experience. There’s no telling how much overlap we’ll see in content between Sony and the PC platform when it comes to Virtual Reality.
We’ll have more on the future of VR, whether it’s on the PC or PS4, as it comes.
