iPhone 7 leaked components surface in new photos

The iPhone 7 is probably still in the very early stages of production, but the first leaked components may already be breaking cover. Three new pictures claim to show the backlight for an upcoming Apple smartphone along with what looks like a 3D Touch chip.

That suggests we’re looking at the iPhone 7 or perhaps the iPhone 7 Plus. Apple is also expected to release a smaller iPhone 6c earlier in the year, though it likely won’t pack a pressure-sensitive display. The images come from Taiwanese site Apple Club, which has a pretty good track record when it comes to leaking iPhone news according to 9to5Mac.

Rumor has it the iPhone 7 could be a big upgrade from last year’s model. Various reports suggest Apple will adopt a water-resistant design, remove the headphone jack or slim down the device to the size of an iPod Touch. Upgrades to the cameras, display, processor and RAM are all possible as well.

Apple typically waits until late in the year to announce its new iPhones, which means it could be a while before we see the actual device. In the meantime we’ll be keeping a eye out for any more leaks.
