Samsung’s platinum Gear S2 Classic first look – I probably can’t afford this

Samsung unveiled new models of its Gear S2 Classic smartwatch at CES 2016. On one hand, Samsung is copying Apple with a new rose gold model of the Gear S2. On another, it’s beating Apple to an even more premium material: platinum.

Both watches were unveiled at the show and offer the same features as the already-announced Gear S2 Classic, just with finer metals. I’m not much of a rose gold guy myself, and I’ve always preferred silver or white gold to platinum, just for the cost savings. There’s no doubt a market of people who want to spend a bit more on their smartwatches just for bragging rights, so these are for those folks.

Check out the gallery above for a closer look – both models launch in February. Samsung didn’t announce pricing, but I suspect these won’t come cheap.
