Without much in the way of new competition this weekend, Star Wars: The Force Awakens won its third weekend at the box office.

1. Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Star Wars: The Force Awakens won its third weekend, and looks to be come the highest grossing film ever domestically on Monday.

As for the weekend, the film took in $88.3M domestically and another $96.3M internationally. It now stands at $740.26M domestic and $770.5M foreign for a global total of $1.51B. Talk is definitely growing that it could surpass the $2.7B total for Avatar which is the current global number one.

2. Daddy’s Home

Daddy’s Home, the latest comedy from Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg took in a very nice $29M in this weekend for a new domestic total of $93.68M off of an estimated budget of $50M.

3. The Hateful Eight

Quentin Tarantino’s eighth film, The Hateful Eight, took in $16.24M for a new domestic total of $29.57M off of a $44M budget.

4. Sisters

Rounding out the top five was the Tina Fey & Amy Poehler comedy Sisters. The film took in $12.58M for a new total of $61.7M off of a $30M budget.

5. Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip is holding on still and landed in fourth place this weekend with $11.8M. This brings its domestic total $67.37M.
