Oculus Rift pre-orders to begin on January 6 – Nope, still no price

Oculus VR has officially announced that the Oculus Rift will go up for pre-order this week. The virtual reality headset will be available for digital claim starting on January 6, 2016.

As of writing this post following that announcement, we still have no idea how much this thing will cost. We assume it will be somewhere north of $350, but even that’s just a guess.

Surely, the Oculus Rift will be priced in time for the opportunity to pre-order. It wouldn’t make much sense to sell customers a product without telling them how much it will cost.

In the same post announcing the Oculus Rift’s pre-order date, the Oculus VR folks indicated that Founder Palmer Luckey will be hosting a Reddit AMA on Wednesday, January 6 at 6pm PT.

Any guesses regarding how much the Rift will cost? I’ll say $500, though I hope I’m on the high side.
