Final Fantasy IX headed to iOS, Android and PC

Say what you will about smartphones and their affect on the medium of gaming, but there’s no arguing how big the market has been for revivals. We’ve seen plenty of old titles re-released for Android and iOS, and Square Enix on Thursday announced Final Fantasy IX is the next title to hit your phone. (It’s also coming to PC, too.)

The announcement was technically for the Japanese market, but you’d expect Square Enix to be developing one for western audiences as well. Either way, the developer said that the new port is “coming soon,” which could mean anywhere from a month to several.

As with other re-releases, fans can likely expect HD graphics, a high-speed mode, and auto-save functionality. Other additions, such as achievements, will probably be added as well.
