Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige reveals new Phase 3 details

Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has already gone through his usual index cards of information regarding Phase 3 plans, but he divulged a bit more in a new interview with Empire. His responses in the interview are pretty generic, careful not to reveal any big new details, though he still divulges just enough to be newsworthy.

Below are a few quotes from Feige from the Empire interview.

On Guardian’s of the Galaxy Vol. 2:

There’ve been many different incarnations of the Guardians over the years in the comics and we’ll catch a glimpse of additions over the course of the movie.

On Thanos:

I wouldn’t look too hard in [Guardians 2] for Thanos. The next time we see Thanos he will not be messing around. It will be, ‘Oh, that’s why they’ve been teasing this villain for five years!’

On Spider-Man:

It’s going to be as big and spectacular a Spider-Man film as has ever been made. But it’s a Peter Parker story and has more opportunity to be focused on the story of a 15-year-old kid going to high school.

On Thor: Ragnarok

I don’t think people will read into that title alone [regarding] what the movie’s going to be. It’s going to be, perhaps, as totally different from the prior Thor movies as Winter Soldier was from the first Captain America. We want to take it to new places, we’ve got new characters that will show how big we’re swinging on this. And we have a Hulk… The film takes place within the cosmos primarily, which is to say, frankly, very little Earth.

On Black Panther:

This one is so important. It’s a big geo-political action adventure that focuses on the family and royal struggle of T’Challa in Wakanda, and what it means to be king. T’Challa’s story is very important to us as it link to the next Avengers films, which is why we brought it forward.

Phase 3 is going to be huge for Marvel, beginning with Captain America: Civil War and Doctor Strange in 2016. After that, we’ll get Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Spider-Man, Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War Part 1, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Captain Marvel, Avengers: Infinity War Part II, Inhumans and finally three more untitled projects in 2020. So, yeah, it’s going to be a busy next few years.
