Rocket League is approaching 9 million players worldwide

Rocket League is approaching the nine million player mark on a global level, and it’s safe to say this game was an absolute phenom of 2015.

Developer Psyonix took to the PlayStation Blog to drop a holiday thank you on fans. It was there that it announced the current player base. It also indicates that 2016 will see “new content, new modes, new DLC, new Arenas, and plenty of other cool things to keep you coming back.”

If I’m being perfectly honest, I almost slept on Rocket League. I thought it was another throw away game in the Instant Game Collection for PlayStation Plus subscribers when it released this past summer. Boy, I’m glad I gave it a shot. This game is absurdly good, and Psyonix deserves all the praise and attention it is getting now that 2015’s award season is in full swing.

Spoiler alert: Rocket League will even show up in our best of 2015 list.
