BlackBerry Priv for Verizon gets cleared for landing

AT&T still has an exclusive deal on the BlackBerry Priv, but a Verizon-supported version could be right around the corner. A recent FCC filing reveals the slider keyboard smartphone has already been cleared for landing on the carrier’s network.

The document doesn’t list Verizon by name, but does mention several LTE bands supported by the carrier. It also includes confidentiality agreements that expire on January 20, suggesting the Priv’s Verizon release could be less than a month away.

Verizon previously revealed plans to offer the Priv, but simply said the device was “coming soon.” That was back in November, and it’s unclear what’s taking so long. In the meantime you can always order an unlocked GSM version of the device, though it will still only work on AT&T and T-Mobile in the U.S.
