Ever wonder who’s playing Colossus, the towering metal mutant, in next year’s Deadpool? Under that shiny metallic sheen is Stefan Kapicic, a Serbian actor known for roles in 24 and The Event. Entertainment Weekly says Kapicic was a last-minute addition and only completed his performance for the film in mid-December, just a few months ahead of the movie’s release.
In addition to the announcement and a few new photos, Entertainment Weekly spoke to Kapicic about the filming process, including how he and director Tim Miller gave the character a “soul.”
On the voice:
Colossus’ voice is not much different than mine as Tim loved my natural color and range of voice, so we kept it and worked more on the Russian accent. The best note I received was to be authentic.
On Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool:
There is no actor in the world with such talent and charm that could play Deadpool as well as Ryan Reynolds. Working with him was a fantastic experience, and his ideas and suggestions helped me out a lot.
Kapicic’s casting announcement comes just a few days ahead of a new Deadpool trailer, which will air during the NBA Christmas Day game this Friday.
